Pricing is based primarily on the photos scanned, however other optional services may be available upon request.
Loose photos in good condition that can pass through our automated scanner. This option provides you up to three images - basic scan of the front of the photo, auto corrected version of the front scan, as well as a scan of the back to capture any notes. All three images are included in the cost. These can be provided as a JPG or TIF file. Scanned at a resolution of 600 DPI.
Same as above, just for larger sizes
We can scan items manually if they can't be used in our automated scanner - if photos are too small to go through our automated scanner, are glued to an album page, or for another reason can't go through our automated scanned, we can still help. Only one image is received per photo. Scanned at 600 DPI
Same as above, just for the larger size items
Sometimes you have oversized prints that won't fit in a scanner - we can still help. We take multiple scans - piece by piece of the image - and then splice each of those separate images together. The charge is the regular cost for each scan plus the photo stitching. For example, if you had us scan a newspaper that required 6 scans, cost would be 6 manual scans (8.5 x 11) plus one Photo Stitching
35mm slides are scanned and converted to either JPG or TIF. Base pricing listed here assumed scanning at a resolution of 1800 DPI.
Depending on the quality of the original slide we can scan up to 3200 DPI and we can also offer an infrared scan review and corrects for minor physical imperfections. Please contact us directly for pricing if requesting a higher resolution or infrared correction.
Similar to slides, standard 35 mm negative strips can be digitized into either JPG, TIF, or PSD format. Base pricing listed here assumed scanning at 1800 DPI however can be higher if needed. Pricing may vary with a different resolution.
Large format negatives (up to 4" by 4") are manually prepared and preserved digitally. Larger sizes can be scanned but are performed at the hourly rate due to the time intensive process.
Most of our pricing works out to about $35 per hours. For services that aren't specifically listed here we can work at the hourly rate. This would include work for delicate or damaged photos or items that cannot be scanned in a batch, photo prep, or organization of items for scanning.
Magnetic tapes storage like VHS or audio cassette have a limited life and deteriorate over time. We're happy to convert these to an MP4 file that won't degrade with age.
Did you know the last VCR manufacturer stopped production in July 2016? But you shouldn't be concerned, after we digitize your home movies you'll be able to watch them from any computer and most smart TV's!
What about those small VHS tapes that were only about 30 minutes long that you put straight into the camcorder? We can help there too (and since they're a bit shorter than a full VHS, we can offer a bit of a discount).
The old camcorder used to record home videos on 8mm digital tape hasn't been seen in years, leaving you with a shoe box full of tiny cassettes with missing labels. Don't worry, we can help!
Digitally capture footage from your DV or MiniDV cassettes and convert them to a useable format.
Quite a few folks had their old home movies moved over to DVD years ago, but want to have an electronic file. We can convert your DVDs to something you can play on any computer and share with family.*
*We can only do home movies for which you have the copyright, we cannot do commercial films
Old home movies from the 1960's up until the late 1970's were usually the old reel to reel without any audio captured in either 8mm or Super8 format. Price is based on length/reel size.
3" reel = 50' ($12)
4" reel = 100' ($15)
5" reel = 200' ($20)
6" reel = 300' ($25)
7" reel = 400' ($30)
Mom had a keepsake box that had old cassette tapes of us singing songs when we were toddlers. Now Mom has a digital copy she can listen to any time.
Convert your audio CD to MP3 files
We have a few different options to get your files to you
If you have your own storage - a USB drive or an external hard drive - we can copy your files for no charge. Most customers that have a lot of video use this option.
When you're trying to estate storage needs, VHS/Hi8 tapes usually require 1 GB for each hour of video, MiniDV tend to average about 15GB of data per tape. A 1 TB drive can support about 1,000 hours of VHS/Hi8 or over 60 MiniDV cassettes
If you're sharing files with family all over the country you might want to consider a download link. Each link allows up to 20 GB of data (perfect for most photos/slides and maybe a couple videos) and allows for unlimited downloads but is only valid for four weeks, so be sure to download promptly.
If you want something you can copy to your computer and then protect in a fire safe we do offer 64GB USB drives available for purchase.
Additional services may be availalbe upon request
We would encourage you to compare our prices to other commercial scanning/digitizing solutions.
For photo scanning, if you had 1,000 photos our standard pricing the cost would only be about $148 (photos plus USB). As a point of comparison, as of February 1, 2023 the price at Costco would be $325.15 and at LegacyBox is $629.99 (assuming you catch them on a 50% off promo)
For video tape conversion, LegacyBox advertised $27- $29 depending on the package you purchase. Kodak Digitizing charges $16-$23 per tape depending on quantity. iMemories will still run you $13 per tape, and Costco charges $20 for 2 hours (from up to 2 tapes).
